How do I update my ZEUS+®, ZEUS®, or VERUS® Edge scan module firmware?

To update your ZEUS+®, ZEUS®, or VERUS® Edge scan module firmware, use the following instructions:

Upon starting the Scanner function initially after a software update or upgrade has been installed, a message (e.g. There is an update available for your Scan Module” ) may be displayed to inform you an update is needed. This message may also appear after pairing the scan module. 

Note: If no message is displayed there are no firmware updates.

Important: To avoid installation errors and/or equipment damage, maintain continuous power to both devices during the update.

To install the scan module firmware update, use the following methods:

Scan Module Automatic Update Method

1. Ensure the scan module is paired to the diagnostic tool before attempting to update. 
2. If connected, disconnect the scan module from the vehicle.
3. Power the diagnostic tool using the AC power supply.
4. Connect the supplied USB cable between the diagnostic tool and the scan module, see illustration below.
   • The blue LED will light on the scan module when it has power. 
5. From the diagnostic tool Home screen select Scanner.
6. Select Update Now when the update available message displays.
   • A “Successfully Updated” message displays once the installation process is complete 
7. Select OK to close the message and return to Scanner operations.
8. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the scan module to the tool.

The scan module now has the latest firmware update, and is ready to use.

Scan Module Manual Update Method

Use this method if you previously chose to Update Later or need to start the firmware update now.

1. Ensure the scan module is paired to the diagnostic tool before attempting to update. 
2. If connected, disconnect the scan module from the vehicle.
3. Power the diagnostic tool using the AC power supply.
4. Connect the supplied USB cable between the diagnostic tool and the scan module, see illustration below.
   • The blue LED will light on the scan module when it has power. 
5. From the diagnostic tool Home screen select System Settings
6. Select Paired Devices
7. Select the Menu icon In the Suite System Tray, then select Peripheral Manager

6. Select (ZEUS & ZEUS+ - Reprogram SCANMODULE),  (VERUS Edge - Reprogram VERUS Scanner)
7. Select Update Now
   • A “Successfully Updated” message displays once the installation process is complete 
8. Select OK to close the message and return to Scanner operations.
9. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the scan module to the tool.
10. The scan module now has the latest firmware update, and is ready to use.
